Jo and Steph discuss the ‘Imposter syndrome’ today, the feeling that many people have, even high achievers, that they just got lucky and are not as able as it appears.  ‘Imposter syndrome’ is an internal insecurity and a fear that eventually they will be figured out and exposed for who they really are.  It can cause anxiety, depression and fear.

Listen in to hear Jo and Steph share their personal struggles with the imposter syndrome, and how important language is to help us own the callings God has given us.

Discussion questions:

1) Where have you felt the imposter syndrome present in your life?

2) Where have you held back in a meeting or pursing the vision God has given you because you don’t feel worthy yet?

3) Can you accept a compliment by saying ‘thank you’ rather than dismissing it?

4) What words are you afraid to use to apply to what God has called you to step into (I’m a pastor, leader, teacher, writer, mother,…)

Season 3 is here!

Jo and Steph are back and are sharing what they have been doing over the summer, including some exciting news!

In this episode Jo and Steph discuss what they have been up to personally over the summer, and also reflect on the cultural implications of the big news events, in particular Charlottesville, and what it means to respond as leaders in changing times.

Jo is looking for people to help her launch her book next year - if you are interested in being part of the launch team please go to www.josaxton.com and join the mailing list to keep up to date in the coming months!

Check out the new resource guide: Lead On - Leading in Anxious Times - available as a free download to Lead Stories subscribers and for a small cost at www.leadstoriesmedia.com/resources.

Questions to consider:

1) Are you ready to respond to whatever God is doing, especially when things happen that you don’t expect? What practical things can you do to build spiritual strength in this season?

2) One ex-extremist said that all extremists are looking for three things: purpose, community and identity.  Does this help you to understand the church’s role (and need) to address these three areas in their local communities?

3) Look back on your summer (or winter if you are southern hemisphere) - what things have you learned? What has impacted you?
